Celebration Theatre Benefit
On Sunday, March 24, a theater near to Sharon’s heart, Celebration Theatre, is honoring it’s 30th Anniversary. That’s 30 years existing as the only community-based professional theater in Los Angeles endeavoring to accurately represent the gay and lesbian community to itself and to the community at large. It’s become more than than a theater to so many – it’s a home, it’s a history, it’s an institution.
To celebrate, they are having a huge benefit at The Colony Theatre. The Colony is a beautiful 268-seat theater in downtown Burbank. Some of this theaters most talented friends and allies are coming out to sing and read, including Jane Lynch, Sean Hayes, Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves, Valerie Bertinelli, Susan Sullivan, Lainie Kazan, Philip Casnoff, Drew Droege, Sam Pancake, Kevin Chamberlin, Roger Bart, Alec Mapa and more to be announced. The evening will also include a musical review of Celebration’s past shows including Altar Boyz, The Women of Brewster Place the Musical, The Next Fairy Tale, Justin Love, and the Ovation award winning cast of The Color Purple: The Musical.
Sharon will be receiving the second annual Celebration Theatre Vibrant Voice Award, which is given to an artist for being an outspoken ally for Celebration Theatre and the LGBT arts community in Los Angeles.
